The UN is sixty-two today so happy birthday United Nations. The U.N. was created in 1945, – During the closing days of the Second World War, representatives of 51 nations gathered in San Francisco to attended the UN Conference on International Organization and to work on keeping the peace after the war which finally leading to the signing of the UN Charter on 25 June 1945 but the anniversary of the entry into force of the United Nations Charter on 24 October 1945 has been celebrated as United Nations Day since 1948. Since then, the day has been celebrated as an event which strengthens the bonds among nations. This year’s theme is "Global Health: A Critical Component to Development." Today, there are 192 countries represented in the U.N.
True to its mission, the United Nations has worked hard since it was established, alleviating suffering in every part of the world and strengthening the mechanisms of international cooperation. It has taken some big steps forward in the common struggle of all nations for development, security, and human rights. Many of the problems facing the world in 1945 still exist today. But there are also so many new problems that have come with the changing times. Therefore, world leaders say the U.N. needs to make some urgent changes so it can better help all people. “The world is changing in the United Nations’ favour -- as more people and Governments understand that multilateralism is the only path in our interdependent and globalizing world. Global problems demand global solutions -- and going it alone is not a viable option.” Siad Ban Ki-moon,the secretary-general of UN on its birthday anniversary. He insisted that the demands on the UN were growing every day, and warned that "we will be judged in the future on the actions we take today – on results."
The IPCC, established in 1988 by two United Nations organizations, the World Meteorological Organization and the United Nations Environment Programme, to evaluate the risk of climate change caused by human interfernce shared the 2007 Nobel Peace Prize with former Vice President of the United States Al Gore.

the UN has indeed worked hard and has suceeded in certain areas. But it should be more like a global community.. to fight terrorism, communal tensions, problems over international border.
It should independently take a firm stand devoid of influences frm 'powerful' memebers.
All members hv to respect the UN as a higher authority.. its the only way to avert any wars in future..
