Naked truth
We are still soaking up the incredible victory of the Indian Cricket in Twenty-20 world cup. I don’t see a problem in celebrating the world cup victory. They are real super stars. We should appreciate team effort and good luck in future.Honestly I don’t mind BCCI paying huge sums to cricketers because they are private body which controls cricket in India. But I don’t understand (and respect) the mind-state of the different state Governments. They are responsible for public money and cannot use it to their whims and fancies. They don’t care for the footballers when they won the Nehru Cup. They don’t care when Indian Hockey Team won the Asia Cup. Football or Hockey is an example only but reality is that they don’t care about sport itself. Few days ago Didi Mayavati Government announced the demolition of Ambedkar sport complex, Lucknow which nourished the cricketer like Suresh Raina and Rudra Pratap Singh but today same government announced more that 10 lakh of cash for Rudra Pratap Singh .What an opportunistic sport spirit it is! No doubt that Cricket is popular but government needs to be fair to every sport but the Government decided to felicitate and enrich the already cash-rich cricketers. On the other hand the hockey players remain impoverished both in terms of money and recognition. Mr. Shahrukh Khan makes a film on hockey. Makes money out of it...........................but reaches South Africa to cheer the cricketers but couldn’t reach Chennai to cheer the hockey players! If all the channels, news papers, politicians, state governments only support Cricket or cricketers (just for poor publicity) then how can anyone expect for medals in Olympics. We are one billion people but no medal in most of the Olympic Games except one or two bronze medals.
Its shame to talk about the way Indian Hockey Federation announced Rs1000 rupees for one goal (That's for entire team has to share) for the Asia cup series. They have to play 10000 games against Thailand or Srilanka only to earn some decent money to lead a life. Politicians and sport administers in India are really cruel. They are simply making fun of the poor sportspersons .You people remind one of Mary Antoinette who told the common people to eat cake if they had no bread
Today Vishy Anand has become the new World Chess Champion. He already is the no.1 player in the World as per FIDE rating points. Very recently Pankaj Advani won the world billiards championship. But I am dead sure that there will be no politicians holding felicitation ceremonies for them. There will be no cash awards announced, no sports car, and no house. I trust there will be a few mandatory congratulatory messages from the PM, etc. The media will make a small mention of it somewhere in passing between their massive coverage of ShahRukh Khan's latest buzz and MS Dhoni being felicitated by Jharkhand politicians and most of we will let this moment of glory blow away in the wind.
Thanks to guys like Anand. It proves that he choose stay away from his motherland. Yes he might feel a tinge bad that he has achieved much more than the over hyped cricket team yet gets a fraction of the treatment. Actually Anand is the greatest sportsperson of this generation who has inspired the large pool of grandmasters. Be a frog in a well that we are world champion in a game whose world consists of few colonial countries. In Olympic zero, in world soccer zero, in athletics zero, in other sports zero apart from some individual efforts. This is because of our morons who don't support anything but cricket. What a hell for a country of one billion!
For a sport loving society, only sport should be religion not any particular game. You cannot have discrimination between the majority and minority. And all the sports must get equal share. Mr Carvalho is 1000% right about the herd of sheep competing to honor the cricketers. Any one who gives his/hers best for the country no matter what sport it is should feel honored and welcomed.
May God save Indian sportspersons (except cricketers because they have sufficient boats to sail) & save sports as a whole!
