Arthur Kornberg Discovered first known DNA polymerase ( the first known polymerase of any kind also) in 1958 from E. coli.Arthur Kornberg spent decades isolating and purifying the enzymes that run the machinery of the cell.In recognition of his work elucidating the basic mechanisms of DNA replication,A.Kornberg was awarded with the Nobel Prize in 1959 along with Severo Ochoa.
